Win Win

Another satisfying movie without any pre release hype surrounding it. Unlike POTC4.
The more hype, the worse the movie is, QED.
Amusing, watchable, with the films title only giving away the eventual outcome to spoil it. In the vein of Little Miss Sunshine and Sunshine Cleaning, its a film about ordinary folk keeping theirs, and their family lives together. No big stars to recognise and spoil the drama, but then I cant think of a recent film that we came out of and spoke about, apart from saying 'that was good'

HANNA

Yet another movie that I had heard nothing about, which is always a good thing, so on a rare rainy saturday evening we made our way around to the local Vue.
A couple of things to say about the Vue chain.
Good
  • Its close
  • Parking is easy
  • Decent seats/screen size/sound system/sight lines
Bad
  • Ticket buying as they sell you the ticket and then try to sell you drink/ice cream/popcorn muck. No wonder why the proles are getting obese.
Anyway, back to film, central role of Hanna played by Saoirse Ronan very convincing and must be Oscar nominated, who has totally Baltic Sea looks until you see her real life Irish image, they did a great job there.
Sound Track was by The Chemical Brothers, which I felt intrusive to begin with but then grew to like. If it was not the fact that I could recognise a few of the actors, local lad Tom Hollander for a start it would have been marked higher.

L'affaire Farewell

French film based on the French Intelligence's involvement that led to the eventual breakup up of the USSR. It would have been even better if David Soul and too a lesser extent, William Defoe had not been cast. Whilst they had only minor roles, it was the intrusion of recognisable actors faces that took away the story telling element of the film.
