The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus

Terry Gilliam up to his usual fantasies in a cross between fairy story/Ken Russell/Monty Python. Very watchable, with a couple of very good moments. Tom Waits cast as Old Nick a masterstroke but otherwise forgettable (but not in a bad way).
Not a touch on Brazil, The Fisher King or 12 Monkeys.
6/10

  1. I don't think Gilliam has made a bad film. I even liked Baron Munchhausen -- though I was less keen on his Brothers Grimm -- so I'm really keen to see this. For a long time, I've also wanted to see Waits in a bigger role so that quadruples my anticipation. The man can do no wrong in my eyes -- one of my few real heroes -- and was clearly born to play the devil. Now if only he'd get on with finishing his new album...
